Warm Greetings from My London Studio
It was another quiet week in the studio. Most of my energy went into preparing both murals for their first bisque firing. All the pieces are finally in the kiln now, and after everything that happened with the earlier breakages, I am hoping they are properly dry this time. I programmed an incredibly long preheat and drying cycle into the kiln, so I am crossing my fingers that it will be enough.

At the Studio Table
While the kiln was doing its thing, I started making more swirl bowls. A few of you have been asking for them, and it felt like the right moment to return to something familiar while the bigger projects are in limbo. I also made some swirl bowl Christmas decorations and small ornaments, which was surprisingly calming to work on.
Alongside that, I sketched and started shaping a few new designs inspired by my childhood and some of my favourite fairy tales. It feels good to follow those threads again and see where they take me. Sometimes quiet weeks open up space for ideas that have been sitting in the background for years.

Work in Progress
Now it is a waiting game. I drilled holes in all of the mural tiles and checked every joint before loading the kiln, so they have the best possible chance of surviving. The garden mural can be repaired if something goes wrong, but the kitchen mural would be much harder to recreate, so I am trying not to think too far ahead.
At this point all I can do is wait and hope for the best.

From the Kiln
No results yet. The bisque firing is still running, and it is a long programme because of the thickness of the tiles. With luck, next week I will finally have something to show you. I am hoping I can open the kiln to a full set of intact pieces and move on to the next stage.
Until next week,
