Warm Greetings from My London Studio
So much happened this week that it almost feels unreal. There were moments of real joy in the studio, followed by a few days that reminded me how quickly priorities can shift. It has been intense, emotional, and grounding all at once.
At the Studio Table
The biggest studio news is that the garden mural is now mounted on the wall. The grouting is finished as well, apart from a final wipe and a few small edge adjustments. Overall, I am incredibly happy with how it turned out. Choosing the grout colour was one of the hardest decisions in the whole process. It needed to support the artwork without competing with it, and I think it does exactly that. Seeing the piece fully installed was one of those quiet, deeply satisfying moments.
Because of everything else that unfolded this week, the kitchen mural has taken a step back for now. I simply did not have the time or headspace to continue with it, and that feels okay. It will wait.
Work in Progress
Midweek, my focus shifted very suddenly. My dear cat, Mr. Belvedere, became extremely lethargic and unresponsive one morning, and I took him to the vet immediately. He was diagnosed with a severe bladder blockage that had already caused toxins to build up in his blood. He spent three days in hospital with a catheter and intensive care.
He is home now, but it has been a stressful few days. I had to rush him back to the vet once more when he did not pee again, and next week he will undergo an operation to remove the bladder stones and crystals. I am hopeful that once this is done, this long and frightening episode will finally come to an end.
The medical costs have been significant and completely unexpected. I am grateful I can cover them, but it has still been a heavy blow. Because of this, I am planning a small sale next week with newly made swirl bowls and a few Christmas ornaments.
I will also open pre-orders for some of your favourite designs, so keep an eye out for that.
A dear person has taken some truly beautiful photographs of Mr. Belvedere over the years and kindly allowed me to share them. The postcards have just arrived, and seeing them in print feels quietly moving. I also created a small matching sticker.
Both will be available on my website very soon, and any support through these will go directly towards Mr. Belvedere’s medical care.

From the Kiln
There was movement in the kiln this week after all. I bisque fired a new batch of swirl bowls and Swirl Christmas ornaments, and they are currently in the kiln for their glaze firing. If all goes well, I plan to add a gold rim in a lustre firing at the beginning of next week. With a bit of luck, I should have a few new pieces ready to share on the website by midweek.
